Iceland University of the Arts

In LHÍ we have six departments that cover most arts and design disciplines, as well as art education. Each department includes undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. LHÍ is the only university in the field of are in Iceland and therefore has a great responsibility for the culture of our country as well as its international dissemination. We are proud of our library which is the largest in the country on the field of art. The institution is a society of students and teachers where studies, teaching and research is conducted with professionalism, equality and respect. The academy is a platform for creativity with strong ties to the modern age. We emphasise on individualized teaching, the sharpening of students' creative thinking and the encouragement of research and academic development if the field of art. LHÍ operates in an international environment. Due to our extensive programmes of art, we have the unique role within the society of art and design. Our network is large and partners many, both local and international, within the institution and in the industry. We are driven by curiosity to look for new ways, solutions and answers; we dive into the answers in search of understanding of what we do not know; that way, that way we dare to follow our intuition and creative vision.
